14 Days Rwanda Uganda Self Drive Itinerary – Gorilla Trekking & Wildlife Tour

14 day Rwanda Uganda Self Drive tour is designed for those who are interested in the ultimate wildlife safari in Africa and it involves activities such as birding ,visiting Lake Bunyonyi ,visiting the genocide memorial, golden monkey trekking and also viewing nature through walks and hikes .The journey will begin from Kigali ,pas through Uganda and then end in Rwanda, take a note that there are two border crossing and the its ranked as the perfect cross border car hire holiday in East Africa.

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali.

14 days Rwanda Uganda Road trip experiences start on arrival at the airport where you will be picked by our local guide and then proceed to brief you about the itinerary and also introduce himself to you  then  take you for a city tour that is if you arrive early and its okay depending on the flight that you might have taken take you to the lodge then have dinner and rest. Day 2: Transfer to Volcanoes national park.

You will have a relaxed mind and the start of the Rwanda self drive holiday since the guide was for one day for Kigali city tour , In the morning after you have had your breakfast you will then transfer to Volcanoes National park and along the way kids will be waving at you ,on arrival you will check in at the hotel where you will be warmly welcomed by the stuff and have dinner then rest .

Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park.

In the morning after you have had a heavy breakfast you will head out of the lodge and proceed to go to the park headquarter and they will brief you about everything and then after proceed with the gorilla trekking experience which will take about 3 hours depending on the gorilla family you’re going to trek afterwards have your packed lunch you will head back to the lodge have dinner then rest.

Day 4: Golden monkey trekking in volcanoes national park.

After you have had your breakfast you will head out of the lodge and then proceed for the golden monkey trek which can take about 2 hours, then during mid-day you can have your packed lunch then afterwards head for the Cyanika boarder to cross over to Uganda for the Bwindi experience and you will check in at the lodge and then have dinner then rest. When selecting the lodge , kindly double confirm the gorilla trekking sector to avoid being charged for visiting the wrong sector that your gorilla permit is not booked in. 

Day 5: Second Gorilla trekking in Bwindi.

In the morning after you have had breakfast you will head out of the lodge and then proceed to go for the gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable National park and it might take about 3 hours at least then have your packed lunch .Then head out of the park to the lodge ,have dinner then rest .

Day 6: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.

Early morning after breakfast, you will have to head out of the lodge and then head for the road to head to Lake Bunyonyi and then along the way you will have lunch at a local restaurant and then proceed to Lake .On arrival you will have to check in at the lodge where you will have a warm welcome from the staff and then have dinner then rest.

Day 7: Transfer to Ishasha sector.

In the morning after breakfast you will have breakfast then proceed to the Ishasha sector which will take about 3hour drive to reach there and you can pass through small towns and view how people live then on arrival at the sector you will check into the hotel and then have dinner then have rest .

Day 8: Game drive and proceed to Mweya sector.

 Early in the morning you can have breakfast, check out of the hotel at around 8 AM and od an early morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park and this gives a chance to the photographers since it’s easy to view the animlas since it’s this time that are active after you can have lunch at around 1PM them head to Mweya and on arrival you will be welcomed by the staff at the loge where you’re going to stay, have dinner then rest.

Day 9: Game drive and boat cruise.

In the morning after breakfast, you will head for an early morning game drive, see the animals as they are in the wild and head for lunch at a local restaurant then in the afternoon have a boat cruise where you can view the whole of Kazinga channel where you will spot many wildlife animals such as the hippos, buffaloes and many bird species .After that activity you will head for the lodge and then have dinner then rest.

Day 10: Chimpanzee tracking in Kalinzu forest.

After an early morning breakfast, you can head for the forest and it is very near to the park and it can take around an hour or two to reach there and on arrival you will be briefed about the chimpanzees, the trek will take around 2 hours or 3 the least, have lunch then in the afternoon you can head to the lodge, have dinner then rest.

Day 11: Game drive to Lake Mburo National park.

You will have breakfast then head to the park and it can take about an hour or two to reach Lake Mburo National park and on arrival you will do a game drive then during mid-day you can have your lunch then proceed to do another game drive .Then head back to the lodge, rest after having dinner .

Day 12: Transfer to Akagera national park via Mirama hill boarder.

Early in the morning you will have breakfast then head for the boarder crossing at the Mirama boarder in Ntungamo to Rwanda then do an end game drive at the park then proceed to check in at the lodge, have dinner then have rest.

Day 13: Game drive and boat cruise.

In the morning after an breakfast you will head for the park and do an early morning game drive, take pictures, view the animlas or even do nature walks .In the afternoon have lunch and then do a boat cruise at the Lake Ihema and this is a good opportunity for the wildlife lovers, photographers and bird lovers to then after you can head back to the lodge, have dinner then rest.

Day 14: Transfer to Kigali International airport.

In the morning after breakfast you will have breakfast, do a short city tour to places like the cultural market and also crafts market then get a safe flight back home and this marks the end of the tour.
