8 DAYS CALVING SEASON IN TANZANIA AND WILDLIFE SAFARI IN KENYA
Day 1: Nairobi – Lake Nakuru
After your arrival at Nairobi Airport, transfer towards the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving at the park in time for lunch. Have a short relaxation, enjoy a late afternoon game drive in the park. The drive takes you to the shores of the lake, famous for its birdlife, especially flamingos that form a pink hue across the lake. Return for dinner and overnight at the lodge. Day 2: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara
Depart Nakuru after breakfast and drive through the floor of the Rift Valley to the world-famous game reserve, the Masai Mara. You arrive at the Camp in time for lunch. At 16h00, enjoy an afternoon game drive in the reserve. Return for dinner and Overnight at Rover Public Campsite
Day 3: Masai Mara
Enjoy a full day in the reserve with both morning and afternoon game drives at 06h30 and 16h00, respectively. Considered by many to be Kenya’s finest game reserve, the 650 square miles of the Masai Mara adjoin Tanzania’s well-known Serengeti, forming one ecosystem. The open, rolling savannah grassland of the Mara is the home of numerous wildlife species including elephant, rhino, lion, cheetah, leopard, hyena, jackal, buffalo, eland, topi, impala, gazelle, warthog and zebra. From June to September, the annual wildebeest migration takes place when thousands of these animals sweep across the plains and seek out new grazing areas. Day 4: Maasai Mara – Serengeti
After breakfast, our driver-guide will pick you up and transfer you to the Kenya Tanzania border, Immigration procedure and change of vehicles. Our driver-guide on the Tanzanian side will pick you up. You will be transferred to the lodge or camp to arrive in the afternoon. You have time to relax and freshen up after a short siesta, and then enjoy the 16h00 game drive. Serengeti is the most famous of Tanzania’s national parks and is known for its large number of grazing mammals, including 1.5 million wildebeest. Serengeti is derived from the Maasai word Serengeti, meaning “wide open space”. You will have dinner and your overnight stay at the Camp or lodge. Day 5: Full Day Serengeti National Park Game Drive
Start your day with an unforgettable sunrise game drive across the Serengeti. See the sun set fire to the savannah as predators such as leopards and lions hunt for their morning meal. After your breakfast, you will take a packed lunch and proceed for a day long game drive through the park. Your driver will pick a route designed to ensure you have the best possible chance of spotting the Big Five and the Wildebeest Migration. After the thrills of the day, you will head to your Campsite of choice for dinner and overnight. Overnight at Seronera Public Campsite
Day 6: Serengeti – Olduvai Gorge – Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Traveling back to Ngorongoro today we make a stop at Olduvai Gorge, site of the Leakey excavations in the 1960s and 70s that established this region as the prehistoric habitat of some of the earliest species of hominids with some finds dating back 1.8 million years. Called the ‘eighth wonder of the world’ and stretching across some 8300 sq km, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area boasts a blend of landscapes, wildlife, people and archaeology that is unsurpassed in Africa. Day 7: Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, transfer to Lake Manyara is the smallest of the northern parks in Tanzania (330 sq km, of which two thirds is the actual lake) hosting a wide variety of vegetation, ranging from savannah to ground water forest to riparian habitats. The park is host to thousands of pelicans, ibis and flamingo that can be heard from afar. Other common visitors to this beautiful lake are hippos and the majestic African fish eagle, which can be seen swooping down from its perch to snatch a fish from the still waters of the lake. After lunch at our lodge we will have an afternoon game drive in the park, located at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment and comprising of forest, woodland, grasslands, and swamps. Wildlife interest at Lake Manyara is not confined to bird life only; animals such as buffalo, elephant, giraffe, impala, hippo and a great variety of smaller animals also inhabit the park. Day 8: Arusha
After a relaxed breakfast at your lodge in Lake Manyara, you will depart for Arusha, enjoying scenic views of the Great Rift Valley and passing through vibrant local villages along the way. The drive takes approximately 3 to 4 hours on a well-paved road. Upon arrival in Arusha, you can choose to unwind at your hotel or explore nearby attractions like the Cultural Heritage Centre. This marks a smooth transition from the tranquility of the bush to the comfort of city life. According to your time of departure proceed to Arusha Airport for your fight back home.
