20 DAYS SELF DRIVE ITINERARY EXPLORING UGANDA AND KENYA

Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo

The car will be dropped off at your specified hotel in Entebbe by a Company representative at around 7:00 am. Transfer to Lake Mburo national park on reaching in time to have lunch. Have lunch and relax at the campsite. Later in the evening go for an evening game drive. It offers spectacular views of Wild animals like zebras, water bucks, bush bucks, slender mongoose, buffalo, elands, warthogs, bush rat and impalas along with various bird species. Overnight at Leopard camp

Day 2: Game drive and Boat cruise

After breakfast, you will go for a morning game drive. It offers spectacular views of Wild animals like zebras, water bucks, bush bucks, slender mongoose, buffalo, elands, warthogs, bush rat and impalas along with various bird species. After lunch go for afternoon boat cruise on Lake Mburo until evening and drive back at the lodge for dinner and a night. Optional activities Horse riding, Cycling, Nature Walk.  Overnight at Leopard camp

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and Boat cruise

After breakfast, you will transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and reaching early noon, relax, have lunch. Later prepare for a boat cruise on the calm waters of this lake. Bunyonyi Overland

Day 4: transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park with enroute lunch. You will go for an evening game drive in the park. Dinner and a night as suggested. Overnight at Kasenyi safari camp or Camping at Engiri Game lodge

Day 5: Game and Boat in Queen Elizabeth national park 

Quench your thirst for adventure this morning as you sacrifice your morning sleep for a sunrise game-drive. Resting for lunch, you then take an afternoon boat-ride on the approximately 33kms long channel “Kazinga Channel” that links Lake George and Lake Edward. The channel is a haven for probably the highest concentration of hippos in Africa and numerous Nile crocodiles as well as a rich bird-life that flourishes on the banks.

Day 6: Transfer from Queen Elizabeth to Kibale National Park

Enjoy breakfast and start your long, scenic journey to Kibale national park. This is a 5-hour – 6 drive and you will have lunch en-route. Proceed to Kibale arriving late afternoon. Relaxation, dinner as suggested. Overnight at Kluger Guest Farm

Day 7: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi Walk

Early morning breakfast and join your range for chimpanzee tracking experience in Kibale Forest, arguably Africa’s largest surviving hardwood forest. The forest is home to 13 primate species, birds and many other forest animal species. After trekking, you will drive back to the lodge for lunch and later visit Bigodi wetland area for a great nature walk and remarkable bird life. Spend your evening relaxing at the Campsite. Overnight at Kluger Guest Farm

Day 8: Transfer from Kibale Forest to Murchison falls

After breakfast, say goodbye to Kibale and take a long ride over hills, down valleys, through villages and trading centers with lunch en-route to Murchison national park. Reaching late afternoon, relax, night as suggested. Red Chilli Rest Camp

Day 9 & 10: Full day Game drive, Boat Cruise and driving at the falls

This morning, explore the exhilarating beauty of the park by taking a game-drive in the famous Murchison Falls’ vast savannah grasslands on rolling hills located on the North bank of the park. While on this extended game drive expect to see herds of buffaloes, Elephants, Giraffes.  Break for lunch and then take a fabulous relaxing three-hour boat-launch to the bottom of the Falls. Expect to see Nile crocodiles, hippos and aquatic bird species.  Overnight at Delta Camp

 

Day 11: Transfer from Murchison to Jinja via Ziwa Rhino

Begin your adventure with an early morning departure to Murchison Falls National Park. You will visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary en-route for rhino tracking as it is the only place to see rhinos in Uganda. Have lunch and proceed to Jinja. Overnight at Nile River Camp

Day 12: Jinja – Boat Cruise and a visit to the Nile

Have morning breakfast, and later we drive to the Nile. Enjoy a memorable boat cruise along the white waters of R. Nile the longest river in the world, with optional activities of Water Rafting and Bungee jumping etc. Return to the lodge and spend the rest of the evening enjoying the scenic views of this amazing area. Overnight at Nile River Camp

Day 13: Jinja to Lake Nakuru National Park via Busia Border.

Begin your journey early from Jinja, driving east to the Busia border. After clearing immigration and customs, continue through western Kenya’s lush countryside and past the bustling town of Eldoret. Break for lunch en route and proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving in the late afternoon. If time allows, enjoy a short game drive to spot flamingos, rhinos, and waterbucks before settling in at your campsite for dinner and rest. Overnight at Enjoro Campsite

Day 14: Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast and a morning game drive in Lake Nakuru to catch more wildlife and panoramic views from Baboon Cliff, drive south toward the world-renowned Masai Mara. The journey takes about 5–6 hours via Narok town, passing scenic landscapes and Maasai villages along the way. Arrive in the Mara in time for an evening game drive, where you may encounter elephants, lions, and herds of wildebeest. Overnight. Maji Moto Campsite or Rover Public Campsite

Day 15: Full-Day Safari in Masai Mara National Reserve

Breakfast will be served at your lodge and go for game viewing experience with in Masai Mara national reserve. During your game drive, you will see a variety of wildlife species such as the predators like lions, leopards, cheetahs as well as other wildlife species like elephants, buffalos, hartebeest, zebras, antelopes as well as wildebeest which are among the spectacular sights at this destination especially during the time of the wildebeest migration as large numbers of wildebeest move around the savannah plains in search of greener pastures. You will have picnic lunch in the bush and after continue with game driving. Overnight. Rover Public Campsite

Day 16: Masai Mara to Nairobi – Rest and Optional City Tour

After an early breakfast and optional short game drive, depart Masai Mara and journey to Nairobi, a 5–6-hour scenic drive with stops along the Great Rift Valley viewpoint. Arrive in the capital by afternoon and check into your hotel. You can rest or explore the city with a short visit to the Giraffe Centre, David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. Enjoy dinner in town and prepare for the next leg of your safari. Overnight at Wildebeest Eco Camp

Day 17: Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

Leave Nairobi after breakfast and drive southeast to Amboseli National Park, located near the Tanzanian border and famous for its views of Mount Kilimanjaro. The 4–5-hour journey brings you to the open plains of Amboseli in time for a rewarding afternoon game drive. Spot large elephant herds, giraffes, lions, and buffalo as they move across the dusty terrain. Check in to your lodge or camp for a quiet evening under the stars. Overnight at Amboseli Community Camp Site

Day 18 & 19: Amboseli to Tsavo West National Park – Mzima Springs Visit

After a sunrise game drive and breakfast, head out toward Tsavo West National Park, about a 2-hour drive. Known for its dramatic volcanic scenery, Tsavo West offers a change in landscape and wildlife. Visit the famous Mzima Springs to see hippos and fish through the crystal-clear waters and stop at viewpoints overlooking lava flows and rocky ridges. Continue with a game drive through the park’s rugged beauty before settling into your campsite at Public Kamboyo Campsite

Day 20: Tsavo West to Nairobi – Final Game Drive and Departure

Enjoy an early morning game drive as you exit Tsavo West, then begin the return journey to Nairobi along the Nairobi–Mombasa Highway. The drive takes around 5–6 hours, with lunch en route. Arrive in Nairobi in the afternoon, where you can relax or catch an evening flight depending on your onward travel plans. This marks the end of your Kenya safari an adventure filled with stunning landscapes, rich culture, and unforgettable wildlife encounters.
