Day 1: Pick up the rental Jeep from Entebbe Airport or at the Hotel
Upon arrival at Entebbe international Airport, you will be welcomed by the team of Self-Drive Uganda (Booking Handler and the Driver guide) where by one is to orient you about the car operation, traffic rules and the handler is to orient you about the various safari activities booked with us during your East Africa Self-drive holiday. Later they will drive to Santa maria hotel Entebbe or Via Via Entebbe for dinner and a night. Recommended Place of shopping is the Victoria Mall.
Day 2: Transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
After breakfast, drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary (about 3–4 hours), enjoying the scenic Ugandan countryside along the way. Arrive at Ziwa Rhino Lodge & Campsite, settle in, and relax for the evening surrounded by nature. Camping at Ziwa Rhino Campsite
Day 3: Rhino Tracking & Shoebill Watching in Swamp
Begin early with a guided rhino tracking walk to see the endangered white rhinos, then head to a nearby swamp for a boat excursion in search of the rare and impressive shoebill stork. Return to the campsite in the afternoon to unwind and enjoy the peaceful bush setting.

Day 4: Transfer to Murchison Falls and visit the top of the falls
After breakfast, drive to Murchison Falls National Park (around 5–6 hours), passing through scenic landscapes and small towns along the way. Upon arrival, visit the top of Murchison Falls, where the Nile River squeezes through a narrow gorge, creating a spectacular waterfall view. In the evening, settle at Red Chilli Rest Camp.
Day 5: Game Drive in Murchison Falls
Start early with a morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park, spotting elephants, lions, giraffes, buffalo, and various antelopes. Enjoy the park’s diverse landscapes of savannah, riverine forests, and wetlands. Return to Red Chilli Rest Camp for relaxation and dinner under the stars.
Day 6: Game Drive & Boat Cruise
Begin with a morning game drive in search of wildlife missed the previous day. In the afternoon, take a boat cruise along the Nile River, seeing hippos, crocodiles, water birds, and the base of Murchison Falls. Return to Red Chilli Rest Camp for the night.
Day 7: Chimpanzee Watching in Budongo Forest
After breakfast, transfer to Budongo Forest, a lush tropical forest rich in primates. Embark on a chimpanzee tracking walk with a trained guide, observing chimps in their natural habitat. Return to Budongo Eco Lodge to relax and enjoy the peaceful forest environment.
Day 8: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, depart Murchison Falls National Park and begin the drive south toward Kibale Forest National Park, which takes approximately 5–6 hours. Enjoy the scenic Ugandan countryside along the way, passing rolling hills, small villages, and farmlands, offering glimpses of local life. Stop en route for refreshments or a short stretch. Day 9: Nature walk and birding in Sebitoli Birding and Reserach
Start early with a guided nature walk in the Sebitoli section of Kibale Forest, a less-visited area known for its rich biodiversity and excellent birding opportunities. Day 10: Crater Lakes and Cultural Experience with Bigodi Community

Day 11: Transfer to Rwenzori Mountains via Central Circuit booked with Rwenzori Expeditions
After breakfast, depart Kibale Forest and drive along the scenic Central Circuit toward the Rwenzori Mountains. Enjoy views of rolling hills, plantations, and local villages along the way. Arrive at the Snow Heights lodge to rest, acclimatize, and prepare for the upcoming hikes.
Day 12: Nyakalengija (1615m Asl.) – Omukakiza Camp (2651m Asl.)
Have your breakfast at the lodge and drive to the headquarters of the central circuit route – Nyakalengija. You need to arrive in the morning to allow ample time to rent equipment and meet your guides and porters. The trail begins by passing through farmland to the park boundary beyond which it follows a thick forest along the Mubuku River, crossing its Mahoma River tributary before starting a long, steep climb up onto a massive ridge to reach Nyabitaba hut. During this part of the trip you may hear chimpanzee and see black and white colobus, blue monkey and the brilliantly coloured Rwenzori turaco. It ascends steeply to Omukakiza camp (tent pick) for dinner and overnight. The hike takes an average of 6 -7 hours.
Day 13: Omukakiza Camp (2500m) – Lake Mahoma Camp (3000m)
From omukakiza follow the trail that drops down through the bamboo forest to the Kurt Shafer Bridge, just below the confluence of the Mubuku and Bujuku rivers. Passing through the bamboo forest, traverse through a long and exhausting stretch of slippery moss-covered rock. From the Nyamuleju rock shelter, Mount Stanley and Mount Speke can be seen before passing into the zone of the giant heather, lobelia and groundsel. Finally reach Mahoma Lake, the deepest in Rwenzori mountains national park after passing through the tiring bog, for dinner and overnight at the hut. The hike takes an average of 7 – 8 hours.
Day 14: Lake Mahoma Camp – Nyakalengija Camp.
From Lake Mahoma camp, slope downs from the same trail to Nyabitaba Camp for your lunch. This will take about 5 – 6 hours. After your lunch, descend back to Nyakalengija where you will drive to Snow Heights Lodge for an overnight and dinner.
Day 15: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park & Visit the Salt Lakes Katwe
After breakfast, depart from the Rwenzori region and drive toward Queen Elizabeth National Park, enjoying scenic landscapes along the way. Upon arrival, visit the Katwe Salt Lakes, where local communities harvest salt from the shallow lakes, creating striking pink and white landscapes. Learn about traditional salt mining methods and interact with the local people. Continue your journey into the park, enjoying views of savannah, wetlands, and wildlife en route. Day 56: Transfer to Entebbe & Lake Victoria Islands
After breakfast, drive to Entebbe and continue to the ferry landing for Ssese Islands on Lake Victoria. Board the public ferry or speedboat and enjoy a scenic boat ride across Africa’s largest lake. On arrival at Ssese Island, transfer to your lodge, check in, and spend the rest of the day relaxing by the beach, enjoying lake views, and unwinding after the journey.

Day 58: Return to Entebbe
After breakfast on Ssese Islands, take a boat transfer back to Entebbe. Enjoy the scenic ride across Lake Victoria and arrive at your hotel or lodge in Entebbe. Day 59: Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC)
Visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, a conservation and education facility showcasing rescued wildlife including lions, leopards, chimpanzees, and a variety of birds. Learn about Uganda’s wildlife conservation efforts and enjoy interactive experiences. Return to your hotel in the afternoon and relax in preparation for the final day of your trip. Day 60: End of Rental & Departure
Return the rental vehicle. Transfer to the airport for your flight back home, marking the end of the adventure.
